Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe ante-post bet

The Group One 1m4f Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe isn’t a race I have bet ante-post on much down the years but have had some luck in recently tipping Alpinista at 6-1 in 2022 a couple of weeks before the race and Ace Impact at 11-4 last year on the day. I have a strong feeling about one for this season as well and have taken the Ante-Post plunge a long way out on this occasion. Look De Vega at 3-1 is the colt to be on. The form of his G.1 1m2f Qatar Prix du Jockey Club victory looks pretty solid with Sosie who was third that day subsequently winning the 1m4f G.1 Grand Prix de Paris Stakes and the likes of Ghostwriter, fourth at Chantilly, as well as Mondon Man, Sunway, Diego Velazquez and Ramadan all running well in Group company since the race at Chantilly. Look De Vega certainly didn’t appear to be stopping over the mile-and-a-quarter and looked to my eyes as if there was a fair bit left in the tank. After just three career starts you’d expect improvement yet and he looks a solid bet to me this far out, especially as he is likely to get his preferred soft going at Longchamp in October. Al Shaqab Racing, along with Ballylinch Stud, reportedly bought a 70 per cent stake in the unbeaten three-year-old colt after he won the French Derby when a private sale was agreed and the Arc is a race Al Shaqab Racing desperately want to win again you’d expect and add this one to their stallion roster. It is reported that the Carlos and Yann Lerner trained three-year-old will have just his fourth outing in the Prix Niel in September, run over the same course and distance as the Arc, as his prep. If he wins that the carpet 3-1 will be long gone so I am on. Roll on the first weekend of October.

White Birch won't be running now having been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a setback and he's beat Sosie before and I see no reason for that one being able to reverse the form. As for Ballydoyle potential runners I am not convinced Opera Singer will run in the race, City Of Troy is off to America whilst Los Angeles has a plethora of entries and can't run in them all. The colt will appear next in the Irish Champion Stakes it appears before, probably, running in the Arc with a tilt at the St Leger now looking unlikely. Al Riffa may be the biggest danger from the yard of Joseph O'Brien but he'll have to give the selection 6lb with the weight-for-age.

Be lucky
