Treasure Time wins at Newmarket - Horse racing this week

I cannot tell a lie I am still basking in the glory of Treasure Time, the three-year-old gelding I have a handful of shares in with RaceShare, winning at Newmarket on Saturday. Royal Ascot was a bit of a damp squib for me this year, I had winning bets everyday but couldn't get my nose in front, so Treasure Time winning on Saturday afternoon really was the highlight of the week! He appears to have come out of the race very well the team at Somerville Lodge report and it will be fascinating to see what his new handicap mark is after the win. The son of Time Test outbattled the more experienced, and well-fancied, Jungle Mac to win the pair pulling four-and-three-quarter lengths clear of the opposition. Jungle Mac is rated 79 so a new OR somewhere on the 80's is on the cards for Treasure Time. I wouldn't be too bothered by that as Cieren Fallon was quick to state after the race the gelding didn't really enjoy running in the dip and wasn't completely at home on the good-firm going so all things considered more can be expected yet. He also added he wouldn't be at all surprised if he won again next time!

After Royal Ascot it always feels a bit like 'after the Lord Mayors Show' for the horse racing and the early part of this week isn't overly exciting me at the moment. We do have the Irish Derby at the Curragh on Sunday with Ambiente Friendly likely to be supplemented to take on Los Angeles out there.

The main meeting here in the UK is at Newcastle on Saturday with the Northumberland Plate the dish of the day (excuse the pun) plus the Group Three Chipchase Stakes. The Group Three Criterion Stakes and Listed Fred Archer Stakes and Empress Fillies' Stakes take place at Newmarket on a fair card at HQ Saturday afternoon as well. I may have a bet in the States on Saturday at Churchill Downs.

Be lucky
