Treasure Time update September 18th 2024

It has been confirmed by the team at Somerville Lodge that William Haggas has made the advance entry for Treasure Time, the three-year-old I hold a handful of shares in with RaceShare, in the Balmoral Handicap on QIPCO Champions Day at Ascot. He is of course far from guaranteed to run off his current mark of 94, currently number 67 of over 70 entries, but he may sneak in off a light weight. Apparently Haggas does not want to go for a smaller prize because he thinks that Trev (as he is known at the stable) has proved himself as a big race operator and there will be plenty more valuable races next year if he doesn't get a run. With the likes of recent Doncaster winner Johan, G.3 Superior Mile Stakes winner Holloway Boy plus regular Pattern class performer Witch Hunter in the entries it is a serious race and you need some class to win it!

I am a realist and have doubts he'll even get in but it's great that the team at Somerville Lodge believe he should be in these type of races and we always have 2025 to look forward when even more progression can be expected from the gelding, his various half-siblings all improving with age. I am very hopeful he'll end up on an official rating in the 100's in time. 20-1 is available with Hills as I write but I am not taken the plunge just yet.
