The horse racing week ahead

There is the small matter of a General Election this week for the Political Parties to fit in between Gamblers Anonymous meetings but away from the House Of Commons there is some interesting action in the horse racing world.

Sandown Park is centre of attention come the weekend with the Coral Summer Festival over Friday and Saturday and we may see some stars out over the two-days. The two-day meeting begins with a classy card featuring three Listed contests on Friday. On Saturday City Of Troy is on course to attempt to join an illustrious roll of honour in his attempt to complete the Derby and Coral-Eclipse double. It will of course also see the first major clash of the year between three-year-olds and the older generation. The card also features the Group Three Coral Charge and Listed Coral Distaff, whilst at Haydock they host the Group Two Lancashire Oaks. He won't grab as many headlines as some over the weekend but the three-year-old gelding I hold a handful of shares in with the RaceShare team, Treasure Time, is likely to be entered at Sandown Park and Haydock Park in seven-furlong handicaps at both tracks with slight preference it appears from the team at Somerville Lodge being for the race at Haydock.

On Sunday, out in France, the Group One Prix Jean Prat takes place at Deauville.
