Horse racing news Monday 19th April and the racing week ahead

It is quite a busy week ahead with plenty going on on the Turf and over the Jumps.

The horse racing week ahead

We have our first sight of Epsom this season on Tuesday and all being well should get our first sight this season of Dirty Dozen member and unbeaten Derby hopeful Uncle Bryn in the Listed Blue Riband Trial. Hills are the only Bookies pieced-up as I write on Monday at 13-8 and I will wait till a couple of others chalk-up but the Gosden trained colt will be backed.

On Friday top miler Palace Pier may make his seasonal debut in the Group Two bet365 Mile on a very good looking card at Sandown which will be broadcast live on ITV4. A few Derby hopefuls should also be on show in the Group Three Classic Trial and they have the Group Three  Gordon Richards Stakes for older horses as well.

Saturday is the final day of the Jumps season and it looks likely the battle between Harry Skelton and Brian Hughes for Top Jock honours will go to the wire and be decided on the seven-race card at Sandown.

If that aint enough for you we have some top-notch Flat action at Navan on Sunday with the Group Three Vintage Crop Stakes, which could play host to a top-class field. Irish Derby winner Santiago could line up for his father Aidan O'Brien amogst others with Joseph O'Brien has entered his Melbourne Cup winner Twilight Payment. Prix du Cadran winner and past winner for this site Princess Zoe is also in the line-up for trainer Tony Mullins

Be lucky
