Cieren Fallon side-lined after breaking back in two places

I was sad to read today that Cieren Fallon has been side-lined for an as yet unknown length of time after breaking back in two places when falling from his mount, Nanna Western, after the 5f maiden at Windsor on Monday whilst making his way back to the paddock. Fallon has ridden twenty-six winners so far this year, with more than half of those coming for the yard of William Haggas, with one of course being his winning ride aboard the three-year-old gelding I hold a handful of shares in with the RaceShare team, Treasure Time, at Newmarket last month. He's a top jockey, and has always come across as a decent bloke, hopefully he'll be back in the saddle soon.

The jockey told reporters "I've broken my back in two places, but no operation is required and I just need to rest up at home. I hope to be back in the saddle as soon as I can be, but I've got no timescale f when I can return yet. It happened when we were cantering back after the race had finished and the horse's back just went and I was out of the side door straight away. Thankfully it's not as bad as it could've been, but it's obviously frustrating." He added "I was flying along and Mr Haggas's horses were starting to hit great form, then you're stopped in your tracks. It's one of these things but it's happened to me again where I'd got the ball rolling and then your momentum gets stopped by an injury, as I had it at the end of last year too. I hope I can get back in the saddle soon and continue the red-hot form."
