Best bet for the horse racing Tuesday 4th June 2024

I said on Monday most of my interest this week is likely to be on foreign shores but I do fancy one here in the UK on Tuesday in the evening meeting at Lingfield Park.

Best bet for the horse racing at Lingfield Park

Charlie Appleby had Al Qudra entered in a couple of races this week and the colt goes in the 6f Get Raceday Ready / EBF Novice Stakes at 6.45 over at Lingfield (also entered at Haydock); William Buick rides before heading off Stateside for a few days. Fourth on debut at HQ over 5f in April he returned there in May to finish third over the same track and trip. He was somewhat slow out of the stalls on both starts and visibly green as well, racing keenly. The step-up to six may help and if he has learnt from his first two runs you’d expect him to be on the premises at the finish but at odds-on the colt is unbackable especially having looked so green on his first two starts. Monomyth is the other horse in the race I have had an eye on. Pulling too hard on debut at Ascot over five-furlongs Stott wasn’t too hard on him when it was clear he had pulled-away his chance late on. He'll need to have learnt to settle, but he showed some natural speed at Ascot and as a son of Dark Angel out of Rush he has plenty of speed in his pedigree and should, on paper, be a precocious type. He should be able to get a good pitch early in this round the bend and then it's game on and I think the he's worth an investment at 12-1 each-way (fifth 3-places) as will surely be in the mix and may pick-up the win if the Godolphin owned colt messes about again.

Be lucky
