Best bet for the horse racing Thursday 5th September 2024

I am backing yet another two-year-old on Thursday, I have been all about the juveniles so far this week. It was a Godolphin owned one Tuesday, Juddmonte Wednesday and we're back to Godolphin for Thursday. Byblos was only fourth last night at Kempton but was the eye-catcher in the race and is surely a winner in waiting.

Best bet for the horse racing at Haydock Park

Silver Peak had three entries this week and the race the son of Dubawi will line-up for is the mile Watch On Racing Tv Ebf Novice Stakes at 3.40. A €1,250,000 yearling purchase he is out of Pretty Spirit and a half-brother to French winner So Spirit. The dam was no great shakes on the track but being by Pretty Please is a half-sister to the top-class French 2,000 Guineas and Prix du Moulin winner Persian King and from a family that has produced some very good ones down the years. He was fourth of twelve in a 7f Novice Stakes at Kempton on debut last month where he may have been unsuited by a slow gallop. The front four did pull clear of the rest of the field and the way he went suggested a mile would suit. In a week when then team at Moulton Paddocks aren't sending many out this one certainly looks the best chance William Buick has on the card. I am on at the 7-4 overnight. King Casper has a penalty for his win here over 7f but should go well whilst Caledonian was a fair second at Yarmouth last time and should be in the mix.

Be lucky
