Best bet for the horse racing Saturday 22nd June 2024 - Treasure Time runs at Newmarket

The three-year-old gelding I have a handful of shares in with Raceshare, Treasure Time, runs at Newmarket on Saturday afternoon away from the main meeting at Royal Ascot. He goes in the 7f  Newmarket Equine Hospital Supports Racing Welfare Handicap on the July Course at 4.35. I am going up early with the preview as I am on overnight.

Unusually for William Haggas he runs just eight-days after his last outing at Chester against nine fellow three-year-olds over seven-furlongs. Haggas mentioned himself it is uncharacteristic of him to run one again so quick in his race preview but the son of Time Test is apparently has come out of his run at Chester last Friday well and the team at Somerville Lodge feel he is ready to go again. The trainer said he thinks the gelding is well handicapped saying "I do think, as I said before, he is well handicapped and one day he is going to show that, and hopefully that will be tomorrow!" As I said in a post earlier this week  most of the opposition are fairly exposed types for three-year-olds and Treasure Time should have more to offer yet as all his half-siblings improved with racing and you’d expect improvement from the son of Time Test after just four starts. William Haggas sees the Hugo Palmer trained Wonder Smile as the danger, though there has been some support for Jungle Mac early. Jungle Mac will likely set the pace you'd think as he did at Doncaster last time when third to Royal Ascot winner Mickley; hopefully 'Trevor' as Treasure Time is known in the yard can stalk him before picking him off late on. I jumped on at 7-1 this afternoon with Bet365 (miracle I got on) and he is generally now 11-2 at the time of writing early Friday evening. I am convinced he is capable of leaving his current mark of 77 behind this season, everything suggests he'll get better with races, and the Chester run was just one of those things where he got no luck; was staying on strongly over the extended seven there as he did at Kempton Park over seven-furlongs on his last run as a two-year-old. The straight seven at HQ should suit, Cieren Fallon rides again (rode a winner for the yard Friday), and all being well Treasure Time can gain that all important first victory and then it's onwards and upwards after that into some big money handicaps.

Be lucky
