Best bet for the horse racing at Newbury Friday 21st September 2018

I am concentrating on Newbury for Friday rather than Ayr and their Gold Cup meeting but hopefully, with the Scottish theme in mind, I have one that will pay for a wee dram or two Friday evening.

The one that jumped off the page at me for Friday was Dirty Rascal in the 7f Nursery at 2.50. He ran up a sequence of four seconds before getting off the mark at Windsor, following that effort up by finishing – you guessed it – second in a valuable sales race at Doncaster last week. The Richard Hannon trained colt gets in here off a mark of 85 which is due to jump a whopping 11lb in the future. You know you are going to get a run for your money with this one and unless the handicapper, and I, read the Doncaster race terribly he looks a good thing. Grab the 6-4 bpg overnight as I think this will be a lot shorter in the morning.
